Pitsco Education Algebra is composed of two year-long courses: Pre-Algebra and Algebra I. Designed and delivered using an identical framework and methodology, each course consists of three phases of instruction. In Phase I, students work individually while completing Individualized Prescriptive Lessons (IPLs) and in cooperative learning groups to address basic algebraic concepts. Phase I is designed to ensure that students are proficient in all areas of basic mathematics and are prepared for their contextual and hands-on experiences in Phases II and III. This is accomplished by requiring students to succeed in their IPLs.
In Phases II and III, students work in cooperative pairs as they progress through more advanced levels of algebra delivered using our revolutionary Modules. Phases II and III emphasize content-based, hands-on experiences, providing students with relevant applications of algebraic concepts.
